BEST 2010

This was the succession of BEST 2009 and one very good follow-up of the project again organized in Bulgaria, this time in Blagoevgrad, at the south for 7 days, for 35 participants, at the middle of August 2010. We had participants from 15 countries.

Best 2 – Capacity Building Training Course is a project, which aims to: First, educate more young people about the features of the Youth in Action program and the non-formal education and will inevitably increase their popularity; Second, provide participants with at least basic skills for being effective leaders, facilitators, mentors or active youth workers and volunteers; Third, train participants how to create a project with the Youth in Action program; Fourth, initiate future meaningful projects about capacity building; Last, explore and share good practices and solutions between partner organizations. The Training course will take place in Blagoevgrad – Bulgaria from 18th of August to 26th of August 2010, which includes 7 working days plus one arrival day and one departure day. The main objectives of the project are:

  • To introduce young people to the YiA program in details and the non-formal education
  • To provide youth leaders and current members of partner organizations with tools and skills, that will turn them into more effective leaders, mentors and facilitators.
  • Provide youth leaders and current members with an European perspective on youth work;
  • To introduce participants to the main features of project management and give them experience in setting up main program elements

Strengthen the co-operation between partner organizations and develop future projects and activities.

We can see that number of various youth projects is growing all over Europe. This is a nice trend, indeed. From/in organizational point of view it means that there is also need of more young people that have certain experience, and would like to share that experience with the others and support other youth in learning process. As ESN ( Erasmus student network) international is fast growing network of different youth organizations, covering almost the same territory and range of action as Youth in Action (YiA) program countries, we consider this project as relevant to the YiA program. ESN related organizations are known as a voluntary student organization with huge fluctuation, therefore there is a constant need of capacity building and transfer of knowledge. This Training course (TC) will give us opportunity to promote YiA program among our similar partner organizations, which eventually will lead to more capacity building projects and similar meaningful activities.
