ESN Structure
ESN operates on three levels — Local, National, and International — each playing a distinct role in supporting student mobility across Europe.

National Level
On the national level, ESN members are active in National Boards (NBs) — the binding force between sections, and the link between local and international levels of ESN.
Organised several times a year, these are meetings where all sections from a country come together to discuss local, national and international issues — and where new sections are formally accepted into the network.
National Representatives inform sections about international developments and provide the International Board with feedback from the local and national level. National Boards from different countries meet twice a year at the National Boards Meeting to cooperate, communicate and learn from each other's practical experiences.
Local Level
The mission of all ESN sections — the core of ESN — is to foster student mobility in their respective Higher Education Institutions by providing prospective, current and former exchange students with services, support and guidance.
Local sections offer daily assistance to over 150,000 exchange students, provided before and during their stay abroad. They are often supported by academic authorities, helping them create an enriching exchange environment for all international students.
Typical section board positions
In addition, many volunteers help sections in their diverse offer of excursions, events, lectures and many other activities.
